KOALA Tutoring Program (Kirk Outreach Afterschool Learning Academy)

At the KOALA tutoring program, local first- and second-grade children are matched with loving adults or youth for one-to-one help with their homework.  This individualized attention takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October to May.  On Mondays, the group has enrichment activities, including music, art, field trips, and phonics help.  Each day the children have snacks and games as well.  The group is intentionally kept small (less than 14) so they can receive the help they need to succeed in school.

Volunteers are always appreciated, whether they can make a weekly commitment or serve as a substitute.  If you would like to volunteer, contact Laura Anne Welch (law1021@nc.rr.com) or Stephanie Arnold Workman (saworkman@kirkofkildaire.org).
